The art of living

It was a sunny Saturday and we had a special agenda on the list. We packed up our flowers, tools, materials and head-down to Madnest - a local restaurant tucked along east coast road. We were invited to hold a floral arranging class there, just in time to celebrate Valentine's Day.

So, naturally we were expecting loving couples coming for the session right? But no no, more than half the class are senior citizens! In fact, the eldest lady is 97 years old! What a pleasant surprise! Well, I didn't quite figure out how all of them are related, but they are all in the same big family. Together with them was their grandchildren, spending the fine afternoon, being their language translator as they only understand Cantonese. Sweet sweet action I say! that sure touches my heart.

Sarah and I was in awe of these lovely ladies the entire session. Well 97 yrs old poh poh was here for a bright and prosperous looking arrangement to welcome Chinese New Year instead! Despite us wanting to help, she was cutting her own stems and placing the flowers herself. YEAH, I smell integrity.

We wrapped up our day with a beautiful note and left with full loads of happiness and gratefulness. We were both honored to somehow cross-path with these awesome ladies despite just the short 2 hours, sharing the love for flowers with them, and our philosophy on how floral arrangement should be.

A familiar question that pops-out in mind once in awhile swing by that Saturday - ' What's the meaning of life?' I might have answered myself in thousands different ways, but I guess the sweetest one is always to be Happy and be grateful with all that you have.

Will you agree with me?

Love, Heather
